BEFORE

AFTER

11 - Training.png

Training  - In this stage, you are no longer just learning where the F-tape goes. After you learn how to apply and shape the F-tape so it matches your eyelids, you begin training your ideal crease so it can last through a full day. During Training, you follow a consistent eyelid crease exercise routine, and those exercises act like support when the crease feels weak. The routine can include Tracing-the-Line, Holding-the-Line, Nudging, Looking-Up, Squinting-no, and Rubbing-no, and using these techniques properly often helps shorten how long you stay in this stage because your crease gets more stable faster.

Duration of stage: October 24, 2018 – March 4, 2019 (4 months, 9 days)

 Summary

After several days where her crease failed immediately, Megan would take a short break from using the tapes, and when she returned to them, she often got better results. She also noticed that when school or work felt stressful, her crease was more likely to fail. By the end of this four-month stage, her ideal crease could even handle crying, although it still became fragile afterward, whereas earlier in the journey it would fail much more easily. When she learned to angle the tail end of the F-tape slightly higher, it created a small micro-crease that helped support her ideal crease. She also became more disciplined about avoiding phone use in the morning, and she used the Looking-Up exercise instead, which gave her crease a better chance to fold while her eyelid skin was settling from normal morning swelling by the time afternoon arrived. For a period of time, Laura used coconut oil to remove adhesive residue, but she eventually felt it was too heavy and switched to Clinique “Take The Day Off” Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes & Lips.

 Insight

As Megan began getting more consistent results, she improved at shaping the tapes to fit her eyelids more naturally, and she got better at applying them in the exact same spot each time. However, in the beginning of this stage, while she was still getting used to using Optifold effectively, she experienced consecutive days of immediate crease failure, and that repetition frustrated her and made it harder to notice the small details that mattered. Taking a short break became a smart strategy because it helped her reset, return with more patience, and remember which placement positions worked best, including how close to the nose she needed to apply the F-tape.

She also learned that stress did not just feel stressful, but it could show up physically in a way that affected her results. When she felt emotionally drained, stress often came with hormonal changes that increased puffiness in the eyelids, and it also triggered facial habits like squinting, which made the crease more likely to collapse. As her application technique matured, her results became more consistent, and part of that improvement came from lowering the N-tape feet enough to increase the felt stimulation in the right way.

Oct 24 - Nov 3  (11 days)

  • Eyelid skin gets swollen and almost pushes the ideal crease back up.

  • Uses mascara to outline ideal crease.

  • Entertains an idea of taking a 7 day break.

  • Decides against the break because she is determined to fix the eyelid.

  • Stimulated eyelid now shows impression of ideal crease.

  • 5 hours crease time.

  • Sunny days causes her to squint, weakening the crease.

  • The nudging exercise helps.

  • Gets the feeling that the ideal crease is getting stronger.

  • 15 hour crease time.

  • Crease is not failing for yet another day.

  • Crying fails the crease.

Nov 5 - Nov 15  (11 days)

  • With continuous nudging exercise, crease doesn't fail.

  • Notices that after taking a break, good results happens.

  • Learns stress affects the crease.

  • The less stress she experiences, the less the crease fails.

  • 5 minute crease time.

  • Talks about her case of hypothyroid which causes eyes to bulge.

  • Realizes tape application errors could be from not using a table top mirror.

Nov 29 - Dec 30  (2 days)

  • Takes a 1 week break from using Opti-fold due to class schedule.

  • Learns to use cotton wipes in the direction of inner corner to outer.

  • Crease going back and forth between failing and not.

  • Crease seems weaker suddenly.

  • Decides to cut down the fTape once again.

  • Crease lasts all day the next day after trimming fTape.

  • Next day bad sleep compromised the crease.

Dec 31 - Feb 2  (34 days)

  • 15 minutes crease time.

  • 30 minute crease time.

  • Crease lasts all day, but then had bad sleep, so next day immediate failure.

  • Crease continues to fail immediately.

  • Eyelid Advisor notices the nTape legs are not lowered enough.

Feb 3 - Feb 14  (12 days)

  • Experiments with a different Opti-fold prototype version.

  • Different prototype version seems to be not as good as original.

  • However, the different prototype perturbed the skin's old way of behaving.

  • Explanation of wrinkle-play.

  • Explanation of wrinkle-play in context to the eyelids.

  • For a while, the ideal crease only weakened from extreme stressors.

  • For Laura's case, interfering with the non-ideal crease was important.

  • There was no need to wear regular day tapes for a while.

  • Learns that having a micro-crease help.  (This is a case-by-case basis)

Feb 23 - Mar 4  (10 days)

  • Ideal crease fails two days in a row while on vacation; very discouraging.

  • Laura is confident that leaving a gap is necessary when applying the fTape.

  • She suspects there was an uneven distribution of the folded skin causing the failure.

  • Skips out from using tapes, the crease stays.

  • Her suspicion was correct.  The skin sorts itself out and the crease lasts 4 days.

  • On the 5th day of no tapes, the crease finally fails.

  • Trials another prototype Opti-fold tape which material is more rigid.

  • Uses Opti-fold again and this time the crease lasts all day and through hot yoga, too.
